Lake Johnson Park

Lake Johnson Park is one of the City of Raleigh, NC most scenic parks. A favorite among locals and visitors, the park offers a tranquil setting with plenty to see and do. With over 100 acres of open space, there are many different ways to enjoy your time at Lake Johnson: you can fish in the lake, stroll along the trails and picnic on the shoreline or simply sit back and relax while taking in nature's beauty.

 

The park is also home to a playground, basketball courts and a dog park. In addition, the skyline of downtown Raleigh can be seen from various spots in the park - making it the perfect place to snap some amazing photos!

Mountain biking trails around the park

are a recent addition and have quickly become a local favorite. The trails wind through the woods and around the lake, providing riders with plenty of challenges and beautiful views. There is also a pump track for beginner to intermediate riders.

Hiking trails in Lake Johnson Park

Lake Johnson Park is also home to numerous hiking trails that are perfect for taking in the scenic views. The Lakeshore Trail stretches over two miles, winding around the lake and passing by some of Raleigh's historic landmarks. You can even take a break from your walk or bike ride at one of three picnic areas located along the trail.

 

In addition, the Lakeside Trail is a great place to take in some of Raleigh's beautiful sunsets and wildlife - you might even see an alligator!

 

Finally, if you're looking for a more challenging hike with views unlike any other, then we recommend taking on the Lake Johnson Nature Trail. This trail covers roughly four miles and takes you through a variety of different habitats, including a hardwood swamp and pine forest.

 

Lake Johnson Park is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or morning enjoying all that nature has to offer. With plenty of activities for everyone and some of the best views in Raleigh, it's no wonder why this park is one of our city's most popular destinations.
